Sometimes it gets turf...
Running and I have quite the relationship. I think it likes to test me. Just when running feels easy, when it gets simple to throw on my shoes and go out for a lap around the lake, I get hit with an injury. Maybe I wasn't built to be a runner, but I keep doing it anyways.
My foot's been bothering me for weeks now. It's not the first time I've felt this kind of pain. About two and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with turf toe. It happens when you jam your toe a certain way, and has only one fix: no running.
Now I'm forcing myself into a program to keep up strength and keep off my feet. I'm stocking up on athletic tape and wrapping my foot up so I look like a wannabe ballerina. And I'm writing this, hoping to motivate myself to work through this and get back on the road soon.

The quickest way to make a runner the world's worst person to be around is to take away running. That's where I am now. I toughed it out through a race I signed up for months ago. That was a bad idea. I got one of my worst 5K times ever, and ended up feeling irritable about the whole thing.
